IMPACT Silver Spring brings diverse people together to create a successful community for everyone.  We engage new voices, develop leaders through training and support, build awareness in current leaders and spark collaboration and action to bring about positive change.

IMPACT was founded in 1999 to support the Silver Spring community as it faced extreme demographic and economic change. Today, Silver Spring has one of the country’s most diverse multicultural populations and continues to grow and develop rapidly. In this context, IMPACT works to build new and different structures, practices and networks to ensure that the community thrives.

Cutting edge programs stimulate cross-cultural dialogue, encourage civic engagement and explore the potential in the community for collaboration to solve problems and develop new initiatives. Our programs coach new and current leaders and support community members as they learn how to work together and plan and implement projects.

Through training and support, we work with diverse people and groups, helping them build relationships of trust and develop a shared vision for the future. Our work with new leaders from underrepresented groups, engages new voices in community decision-making and leadership. While, our work with current leaders helps them develop an understanding of how to share power, embrace multi-culturalism and develop initiatives which include every section of the community.

The results are community action and enduring change. To date, hundreds of enthusiastic and committed individuals have participated and their leadership in schools, businesses, government and neighborhoods is creating a vibrant and thriving multicultural Silver Spring.
