The Spirit of Silver Spring event is a celebration of IMPACT’s work and also honors The IMPACT AWARDS winners.
IMPACT Silver Spring hosted the first annual Spirit of Silver Spring Event on May 17 in downtown Silver Spring. Over 300 community, business and political leaders gathered at the event to celebrate the inspirational stories of community members who bring their commitment and passion to the Silver Spring community.
The IMPACT AWARDS were presented at the event to honor people and groups working with spirit and vision towards creating a thriving multicultural Silver Spring.
The 2007 award winners are:
- Pioneer: Emie Mercier-Cadet, Resident Leader, Northwest Park Apartment Community;
- Explorer: Richard Crump, President, Quality Time Early Learning Center; and
- Builders: Lene and Abeba Tsegaye, Owners, Kefa Café and Tom Block, Founding Director and Amy Kincaid, Director of Space 7:10.
These award winners work in the community to benefit others and have demonstrated a commitment to helping create a multi-cultural community that works for us all. Above all, the awardees have inspired and empowered others to take action themselves.
